In size, the electric cylinder is smaller. Instead of a hydraulic system, the electric cylinder uses a precision ball or roller screw and is driven by an external motor and transmission. They are lightweight and directly connected to the motors that drive the actuators. Electro-mechanical systems eliminate the need for bulky pumps, accumulators, fuel tanks and pipes, and eliminate the use of hydraulic fluids, providing the advantage of being safer and more environmentally friendly, eliminating the risk of fire, contamination or personal injury associated with leaks and spills. In addition, the electric cylinder is less noisy than the hydraulic drive.
In performance, the electric cylinder is more stable. Its operating speed and power range are improved, and it can provide higher position accuracy. One of the drawbacks of hydraulic systems is that the viscosity of hydraulic oil can change with time and temperature, affecting machine performance. Electric cylinders, on the other hand, can always maintain accurate tolerances in long-term operation, and because their moving parts are based on recognized rolling element bearing technology, their service life can be predicted under a given set of operating conditions.

The piston slips or crawls

Hydraulic cylinder piston slip or creep will make the hydraulic cylinder work unstable. The main reasons are as follows:

(1) Internal astringency of hydraulic cylinder. Improper assembly of internal parts of the hydraulic cylinder, deformation, wear or shape and position tolerance exceeding the limit, action resistance is too large, so that the hydraulic cylinder piston speed changes with the different stroke position, slip or crawl. The reason is mostly due to poor assembly quality of parts, surface scars or sintered iron filings, so that the resistance increases and the speed decreases. For example: piston and piston rod different center or piston rod bending, hydraulic cylinder or piston rod to guide rail installation position deviation, sealing ring installed too tight or too loose, etc. The solution is to repair or adjust, replace damaged parts and remove iron filings.

(2) Poor lubrication or poor machining of hydraulic cylinder aperture. Because the piston and cylinder, guide rail and piston rod have relative movement, if the lubrication is poor or the hydraulic cylinder aperture is out of tolerance, it will aggravate the wear, so that the cylinder center line linearity is reduced. In this way, when the piston works in the hydraulic cylinder, the friction resistance will be large and small, resulting in slippage or crawling. The elimination method is to repair the hydraulic cylinder, and then according to the requirements of the preparation of the piston, repair the piston rod, configuration guide sleeve.
