4.Detailed introduction

4.1 Extract source

Andrographis paniculata is an annual plant of Andrographis in the Acanthaceae. The stems and branches are quadrilateral, multi-branched, brittle and easy to break; The single leaf grows in pairs, the petiole is short or nearly sessile, and the leaf unfolds in lanceolate or oval-lanceolate, whole or shallow wavy shape; The top is green, the bottom is grayish green, and both sides are smooth; The panicle terminal or axillary corolla is pale purple white, lip-shaped, the upper lip is curved outward, and the lower lip is upright; The sprout is oblong to linear and compressed on both sides, with a longitudinal groove in the center. Andrographis flower from May to September and bear fruit from July to October. According to the theory of the five elements of traditional Chinese medicine, people can feel the bitterness of the heart as long as they contain a small leaf of Andrographis paniculata, so it is named "Andrographis paniculata".
Andrographis paniculata is native to tropical regions such as India and Southeast Asia. It is native to hot and humid plains and hilly areas. It is now introduced and cultivated in the north and south of the Yangtze River. Andrographis paniculata likes high temperature, moist and sunny environment. It is better to cultivate in fertile, loose, well-drained, slightly acidic or neutral sandy loam or loam. Andrographis paniculata is mainly propagated by seeds and can also be propagated by cutting.
Andrographis paniculata was first recorded in the "Lingnan Medicinal Collection Record". It has bitter taste, cold nature, efficacy of clearing heat and detoxicating, anti-inflammatory and detumescence. It can cure throat inflammation and dysentery, and can also neutralize snake venom, which has high medicinal value. Andrographis paniculata extract is used in cosmetics to inhibit fungi and bacteria, protect skin, and treat skin diseases such as acne and acne. Andrographis paniculata is one of the scarce traditional Chinese medicines vigorously developed by China. It is easy to cultivate, quick to take effect, high in yield, large in benefit, and has very good economic benefits.

4.2 Active components of Andrographis paniculata leaf extract

It contains several kinds of lipids and flavonoids. The lactones mainly include deoxyandrographolide, andrographolide, neoandrographolide and dehydroandrographolide. Flavonoids are mainly methoxyflavones. It also contains sterol saponins, sugars, condensed tannins and other phenolic substances.
1). Andrographolide: andrographolide B, molecular formula C20H30O5, molecular weight 350.44. Colorless square or rectangular crystal with bitter taste. Mp.230 ℃~231 ℃, easily soluble in acetone, methanol and ethanol, slightly soluble in chloroform and ether, and insoluble in water, petroleum ether and benzene.

2). New andrographolide: synonymous andrographolide C, andrographolide. Molecular formula C26H40O8, molecular weight 480.58. Colorless columnar crystal, no bitter taste, mp.167 ℃~168 ℃. It is easily soluble in methanol, ethanol and acetone, slightly soluble in water, but less soluble in benzene, ether and chloroform.

3). Deoxyandrographolide: Synonymous andrographolide A. Molecular formula C20H30O4, molecular weight 334.44. Colorless flake (acetone, ethanol or chloroform) or colorless needle crystal (ethyl acetate), mp.174 ℃~175 ℃, soluble in methanol, ethanol, propanol, chloroform, soluble in benzene and ether.

4). Dehydrated andrographolide: molecular formula C20H28O4, molecular weight 332.42. Colorless acicular crystal (30% or 50% ethanol), mp.204 ℃, soluble in ethanol, acetone, chloroform, slightly soluble in benzene, almost insoluble in water.

5.Benefits and Application

Health Benefits

1). Enhance immune function

2). Antibacterial effect
5% decoction has inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus; 20% decoction has inhibitory effect on Proteus; 40% decoction has inhibitory effect on Pseudomonas aeruginosa. typhoid bacillus, etc. have inhibitory effect. Neoandrographolide isolated from Andrographis paniculata has clinical curative effect on bacillary dysentery similar to that of chloramphenicol and furazolidone, and has no side effects.

3). Anticancer effect
Dehydroandrographolide succinate half ester has a certain inhibitory effect on W256 transplanted tumors. Dehydrated andrographolide disuccinate half-potassium hydrogen is made into arginine double salt (abbreviated as transsuccinic acid), no matter it is large dose, medium dose or small dose, it has inhibitory effect on the growth of tumor cells. With the increase of the dose, the effect is enhanced, and the antitumor effect is reliable and stable.

4). Antipyretic effect
Andrographolide has an antipyretic effect on the fever caused by the vaccine in rabbits.

5). Antiviral effect
Churoxinlian decoction can delay the degeneration of human embryonic kidney cells caused by orphan virus ECHO11.

6). Anti spirochete effect
The crude crystals extracted from the leaves of Andrographis paniculata have inhibitory effect on Leptospira. Deoxyandrographolide has a therapeutic effect on leptospirosis, and is more sensitive to pyrogenic, Australian, and typhoid influenza.
